This is an occasional newsletter designed to let you know what has been happening in your Community and what is coming up.
If you have relatives or neighbours who you think might not receive emails please pass them a copy. The most up to date place to receive information is on Facebook - Clashmore and Kinsalebeg Community Council.

So, what's been happening........

We have a new bridge - you might have noticed that

The Contractors and Council engineers worked through the winter months to get the bridge finished. It was opened on the 13th March 2017.

And loads of people have been out this weekend picking up the rubbish that our neighbours throw out of their car windows

So what else has been happening:

The Heritage Group has been working on finishing the survey of the churchyard. The next part of the survey takes place at the Heritage Centre at 10 am on Saturday 8th April. If you are interested in history or heritage please come along. You'll be very welcome.
In addition, the Community Council has applied for a grant from Waterford Leader Partnership to carry out a survey of the Distillery Chimney but a decision won't be made until June.

The Climate Change Group has been in talks with Sustainable Energy Ireland and has registered as a sustainable community. They are also talking to Waterford City and County Council about future projects - do you have an idea which you would like to be considered?

The Healthy Community Group ran Operation Transformation and over 300 lbs was lost in Clashmore and Kinsalebeg. The biggest losers were Patsy Collins and Noel Nugent.

The Healthy Group have also been talking to Pat McCarthy of Youghal First Responders who cover Clashmore, Kinsalebeg and Ardmore. Pat pointed out that the average wait for an ambulance is 40 minutes after you dial 999 but it can be longer with local ambulances being diverted to Tipperary and Kilkenny on occasions. Would you know what to do if a friend or relative needed help?

We could write letters to TDs and protest or we could try and do something ourselves to improve the situation.
We've decided to do something.

On the 24th and 26th April in the evening, Pat will be running a course on how to use defibrillators. Then on the 4th May, we will start a 3-week evening course on First Aid supported by Wexford and Waterford Education Training Board, which will cover

accident scene management
bleeding and wounds
fractures
burns
medical emergencies
choking
recovery position
cardio pulmonary resuscitation
making an emergency call
accident reporting.

Places will be limited on these courses so if you want to take part email your details to cakcc.org@gmail.com or give your name to Colette Beresford in the Rising Sun.The courses will be free but there will be a small charge to cover the hall costs and refreshments.

The Education Training Board have also agreed to sponsor computer training programmes and we hope to have those running in May.

A good old Hoe Down at the Decies Bar with food, drink and good music.
In aid of Strings and Things Festival.

Sunday 16th April after church
Cake sale in Old School House in aid of Clashmore/Kinsalebeg Ladies Football Team.
(and Ladies Football are open to all the community to encourage teamwork, physical activity, fun and group participation. If anyone - 8years old and upwards - would like to come along and take part, get information or train you would be very welcome.)
