The Intercultural Awareness and Practice Training is the nationally ratified intercultural health training programme for staff working in the HSE. This highly regarded programme has been attended by over 200 people working in the HSE, statutory agencies and NGO health and social care services in the South East and South West. It was originally developed in 2014, but due to an increased need for better understanding and capacity in relation specifically to Refugees and Asylum Seekers it led to HSE CHO 5 to commission an additional module on working with Refugees and Asylum Seekers.
Cork Kerry Community Healthcare (CHO 4) is delighted to offer this training in 2019 as part of a suite of responses targeted at frontline staff in the HSE and in a range of other statutory agencies, NGOs and groups within the Community and Voluntary sector, many of whom support families who have come to Ireland, in particular under the Irish Refugee Protection Programme (IRPP).
