A panel may be formed for Community Health Worker posts within the Cork North Community Work Department from which permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full/part-time duration may be filled.

Please note that Health Action Zones (HAZ) and Community Health Projects are known differently depending on the location i.e. City and County, but the same quantum of work is associated with both.
The Community Work Department Cork North (City and County):
- Works to develop innovative programmes which reflect the many factors that determine the health of individuals and communities.
- Is concerned with developing a collective response to needs within communities, including those experiencing social exclusion.
- Promotes inclusive ways of working in order to secure concrete improvements in quality of life for those communities.
- Focuses on empowerment, user participation, collective action, partnership and inter-agency working, being respectful of individuals and their communities, links between poverty and health inequalities, promotion of social inclusion and accountability.
- Seeks to support, guide and strengthen the capacities of communities for positive health and equitable health outcomes.
- Supports the work across all HSE divisions i.e. Primary Care, Social Care, Mental Health and Health & Wellbeing.
Reporting Relationship: Reports to the Principal Community Worker - Cork North Community Work Department or other designated person.
Purpose of the Post: To work with local communities and the HSE in identification and definition of local health issues, develop innovative responses and explore methods of enhancing the local delivery of health services.
