Research Your Local History Workshops for Local Groups, Societies and Interested Individuals

Have you ever wondered about the history of your local area? Have the recent lockdowns encouraged you to look about as never before and to ask questions about the people, the places, the buildings, the events and the history of the locality?

This general workshop aims to give individuals, local groups and societies an insight into exploring their local area and its history at least up to the War of Independence and the establishment of the Irish Free State in 1922. The workshop is non-academic but will cover free sources (physical and online), what resources to look out for and how to assess their value to your research. It will also suggest how to avoid pitfalls so that your research has a good standing in the eyes of those who wish to delve into further details. And it will aim to provide a basis for possible publication.

The workshop will last between 60 and 90 minutes, allowing time for interaction and questions. There will be a small amount of ‘in class’ work involved.
