Old Cork in Colour

Date/Time: running until November 2022 

Event: Exhibition: Old Cork in Colour

Location: Spike Island 

Additional Information: Spike Island has launched a new exhibition titled ‘Old Cork in Colour’, curated by Dorota Gubbins – a wonderful portrayal of times past, bringing into colour some iconic images from the county’s prominent history, as well as images that are being seen by the public for the very first time. The exhibition is on display in Mitchell Hall and people are encouraged to visit. An exhibition booklet has also been produced.

Event: West Cork History Festival 

Location: Skibbereen and Online 

Additional Information: The West Cork History Festival takes place from Friday 5th to Sunday 7th August 2022.

The programme this year has two themes: 175 years since Black ’47 and the Bandon Valley killings of 1922. There will also be a specially commissioned Festival concert by Jessie Kennedy, inspired by Skibbereen-born astronomer and scientist Agnes Clerke.

Mitchelstown 2022 Commemorative Conference

Event: Doomed Inheritance Conference 

Location: Saint George's Arts and Heritage Centre, Mitchelstown, Co. Cork  

Additional Information: A wonderful conference, supported by the Commemorations Committee of Cork County Council, is set to take place from Friday to Sunday, 12-14 August, 2022. Event: National Heritage Week in County Cork

Additional Information: National Heritage Week takes place from Saturday 13th to Sunday 21st August 2022 and over one hundred events are expected to take place throughout the county of Cork. Event: "Gathered at the Bridge* - 200 years of Bandon Methodist Church

Location: Bandon Methodist Church, Bandon, Co. Cork 

Additional Information: "Gathered at the Bridge* - 200 years of Bandon Methodist Church. An exhibition of photos and memorabilia will take place at Bandon Methodist Church on Friday 19th from 13:00 to 17:00 and again on Saturday 20th from 14:00 to 19:00. There will also be a presentation on the history of Bandon Methodist Church by former Minister Rev. Ian Henderson. The talk begins at 19:00 in the Church on Saturday 20th August.
