Coachford Community Council
The people of Coachford Co Cork population approx.460, showed their faith in democracy on Sunday March 9th at their Community Council election at the Community House, Coachford.
Ten very worthy candidates stood for seven positions, and the 250 voters who turned out was impressive. From 10.30am to 1pm a queue of people waited their turn to use the polling booths. It was extraordinary to see the appreciation people have in their Community Council members, and their desire that the best representation of local issues is made by the Council to higher levels.
Invigilators on the occasion were well known Rylane representatives Nigel Dennehy and Muintir na Tire representative Diarmuid Cronin, assisted by Peter Dinneen Coachford who is retiring from the Council after long and valuable service.
