The HSE Social Inclusion are delighted to invite you to our upcoming Roma Cultural Awareness Training session on 27th June, 10.30am to 1pm at the Migrant Hub, South Parish Community Centre, Ballintemple, Cork, Co. Cork, T12 CX32. Please see the booking link below.
This training is designed to deepen your understanding of the Roma community—one of Europe’s largest and most marginalised minority groups. Throughout the session, we will explore the rich heritage and resilience of the Roma, while also addressing the ongoing challenges they face due to discrimination and exclusion. Our goal is to enhance your awareness of Roma traditions, language, and values, and to dispel common misconceptions that often lead to misunderstanding.
Moreover, we will discuss the barriers the Roma community encounters in accessing vital services such as education, healthcare, housing, and employment. It is crucial for us to recognise the need for inclusivity and respect, and by doing so, we can contribute to building a more equitable society.
Your participation in this training will be a crucial step in fostering better relationships with Roma communities and effectively addressing their needs. We look forward to learning together and committing to a future that values diversity and inclusivity.
The event is free and refreshments will be provided, but please book in advance – the link for booking is https://bookwhen.com/ romaculture70
Please promote this event and display the attached poster or distribute it on your social media, etc. Please also find attached the executive summary of ‘Te Rodel Nevo Drom - We are looking for a New Way’; research launched with the Roma community in May 2024.
We appreciate it and look forward to seeing you on the 27th of June.
Kind regards,
Gina Miyagawa
