Tall Ship Adventure for Disabled Young People Across Ireland

 Image_2025-07-18_11-23-46

Sail Training Ireland for Youth Development are thrilled to  announce that they are now taking applications for their "Sea Change for All” voyages taking place in late September and early October this year.

These voyages places are exclusively for young people aged between 14 – 30 who have a disability of some kind and their buddies (carers) if required.

This opportunity sees the participants become part of the working crew as trainees on the Tall Ship Pelican of London on a weeklong voyage at sea. Potential participants should be aware that this will be a challenging but fun adventure.

The itinerary of the trips are weather dependent but will include a visit to the UK or Isle of Man.

They are able to make this opportunity available as a result of Sail Training Ireland being one of the awardees of the Disability Participation and Awareness Fund 3.0! A big thank you to Rethink Ireland and the Department of Children, Disability and Equality.

Inclusion and providing the sail training opportunity to young people of all abilities has always been a key pillar of what Sail Training Ireland do. They aim to have at least 10% of places available for those with a disability. This figure was 30% and 19% in the last two years. They have done this without any specific funding for disability work. Sail Training Ireland for Youth Development are thrilled to receive this funding, which will go towards getting more young people out on their amazing self-development training programmes on tall ships.
