The suspense is building ahead of this year's Pride in Our Community Awards which will be held this coming Wednesday at 7.30pm in Oriel House Hotel Ballincollig.
The “Pride in our Community “Competition is open to all voluntary groups in County Cork. The Mayor of County Cork Councillor Seamus Mc Grath will present the Awards to local community groups who have developed amenity projects in their area.
There are many different categories including Small Area/ Village Award, Best Large Town in Each Division, Best Heritage Project, Most Eco Friendly Project, Social Inclusion Award, Best New Entry, Best Tourism Project, Best Maintained Existing Project, Healthy Town/Village Award, Innovation and Creativity, Best 1916 Commemorative Project and the overall winner will get the Pride of County Cork Award.
Previous years entries include Community walks and trails, Playgrounds, Community Fields, Community Centre renovations, upgrades to monuments and amenity areas, River clean-ups, Community Signs, Biodiversity areas, Community gardens, allotments, Graveyard restoration, Floral displays on streetscape, all weather facilities, tree planting etc.
Last years overall winners were Waterloo Renewal Group in Blarney and this year over forty groups from all corners of the county have entered. It promises to be a great night.
