WORLD SUICIDE AWARENESS WEEK 10th - 16th September 2017
World Suicide Prevention Day is held each year on 10 September. It's an annual awareness raising event organised by International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) and the World Health Organisation (WHO).
This year's theme is ‘Take a minute, change a life.’ As members of communities, it is our responsibility to look out for those who may be struggling, check in with them, and encourage them to tell their story in their own way and at their own pace. Offering a gentle word of support and listening in a non-judgemental way can make all the difference.
It is also a time to gather those who have been bereaved by suicide. On Monday 11th September we will hold our 6th annual ‘Remembrance Hour’ for friends and family who have been bereaved through suicide.
