Mary was nominated by Ballymacoda Ladysbridge Community Council for her unassuming work in the community.Mary has been involved with Na Saoithe, part of Ballymacoda Ladysbridge Community Council for 21 years. Mary is not one for the limelight, but one who is always working for and thinking of our senior citizens and works very effectively as part of a team.

During her 21 years of involvement Mary has:
• Called on the older people and successfully promoted the Personal Alarms Initiative.
• Continually helped and hosted the Fortnightly Social Afternoons from Sept to April.
• Organised Transport to and from Ballymacoda Hall where people enjoy a chat and Bingo accompanied by tea and homemade scones.
• Helped organise overnight trips away, shopping trips, entertainment trips and more recently the very popular Summer Day Excursions.
• Organised the Christmas Dinner Party in Garryvoe Hotel.
• Organised coffee mornings for Daffodil Day.
• Helping with the Team Hope Christmas Shoe Box Appeal
A lot of the above would not happen were it not for the consistency of Mary Lee’s presence as part of the team of Na Saoithe.

Tom Morrissey was nominated by Aghada District Community Council for his tirelass work on behalf of the community of Aghada.
Tom Morrissey has given the last twenty years of his life to the Aghada Community Council.
During that time Tom worked hard in supporting the elderly people of Aghada.
Tom set up
• The Community Alert Schemes and the Alert Line which is a great comfort to the elderly of the parish.
• The Christmas Party for the senior citizens of the parish which is still going strong.
• He was also actively involved in building the new community centre at Aghada which is used by all including the elderly on a regular bases
Tom while well past the time of retirement continues to play an active role in his community
