Garda North Cork Youth Awards Nominations Sought

 I’d be grateful if this information on the 2022 Garda Youth Awards could be circulated. It would be great to get some nominations from our area. Even a nomination for an award is a meaningful acknowledgement of valuable contributions which often go unrecognized.

 

Application forms for the awards are available from Community Gardaí or by emailing CorkNorthYouthAwared@garda.ie .  (This will also facilitate the electronic submission of Nomination Forms)

 

The youth awards this year are to be in conjunction with National Youth awards.  Our Cork North Divisional winners are then forwarded for consideration for the National Awards in November 2022.

 

A brief outline of important dates around our Divisional youth awards are as follows –

 

                             1^st March 2022                Media Launch & distribution of application forms

                             23^rd March 2022             Application deadline.

                            12^th May                           Awards night in Charleville Park Hotel.

 

Criteria for nominations:             Nominees aged 13 – 21 years on 31^st December 2021.

                                                         Living in Garda Districts of Fermoy, Midleton and Mallow.

                                                         Awards made to individuals and groups of 2 or more.

                                                         Awards recognising achievements up to and including 2021.

 

Categories

 

1. Individual Award for making a positive contribution to your community and making it a better place to live.

2. Award for groups of 2 or more for making a positive contribution to your community and making it a better place to live.

3. Special Achievement Award for overcoming difficult circumstances, defying the odds and where commitment deserves recognition.

4. Community Safety Award where, through a crime prevention or safety initiative/innovation, have made your community a safer place to live.

             

The awards are sponsored by Supermacs, and the award ceremony is a great night. Even a nomination will make any CV or job and college application stand out from the rest, as these awards are well recognised.

 

I urge any community network participant who is aware of good work being done by young people, whether through their respective community groups or independently, to submit a nomination. Even knowing they’ve been suggested should be a source of pride for any young person.
