Access All Areas: Supporting Cultural organisations in County Cork to increase access, inclusion and participation for artists, arts workers and audiences with disabilities.

The Cork County Arts Office are delivering training & seed funding for cultural groups / organisations interested in increasing accessibility for the people they work with and their audiences.

Access All Areas: Supporting Cultural organisations in County Cork to increase access, inclusion and participation for artists, arts workers and audiences with disabilities.

What is it?

A programme for people working and volunteering in arts and cultural organisations in County Cork. Each week a facilitator will address an area with the aim of increasing inclusion, participation and accessibility in an arts and cultural context. Participating groups / organisations will be allocated €1000 seed funding to implement something that will increase access, inclusion and participation in their organisation / group.  They will also receive one-to-one mentoring to develop their idea.

This programme is free for participants. Participation is limited to 10 organisations.

Topics include: 

Policy to Practice: Shifting mindset to programme cultural events and activities with access at the root; Implementing a realistic accessibility policy; universal design & physical spaces and digital  tools, commissioning and producing work by artists with disabilities; relaxed performances and social stories.

Who is it for?

Professional and voluntary arts and cultural organisations and groups operating in County Cork. Two representatives from each organisation are welcome to participate.

When is it?

20th April – 22nd June, with additional time to finish seed-funded projects. While most sessions will be online on Thursday evenings from 6pm – 8.20pm, there will be two in-person, day-long sessions: 20th April and 18th May.

Where is it?

The first, in-person session with Pete Duncan from Co-Train will take place in Cope Foundation, Montenotte, Cork City from 11am – 4pm on April 20th. Then there will be online sessions each Thursday and on some Tuesdays. An in-person session from 11am – 4pm with Arts & Disability Ireland will take place on 18th May in Crann Centre, Ovens, Co. Cork. All other sessions will take place in the evenings, online. Online mentoring sessions can be arranged between the mentor and participants at a time that in convenient for all.

 

How do I sign up?

Email maeve.mulrennan@corkcoco.ie to register your interest. At least one person from your organisation / group  must be able to attend 70% of sessions to be eligible for seed funding.
