Dementia Awareness Training Session
We are inviting individuals, businesses, services, community groups and clubs to join us to learn more about dementia and the practical steps we can all take to help build a more inclusive community for people with dementia and their families.
This online training will take place on Wednesday 19th February from 10-11am. The event is free to attend and everyone is welcome.
The training will be facilitated by Kanturk resident Kevin Quaid, Chair of the Irish Dementia Working Group, who is living with Lewybody dementia, and Amy Murphy, Dementia Advisor with The Alzheimer Society of Ireland. Enduring Power of Attorney Public Information Evening
The HSE Assisted Decision Making Service Cork Kerry Community Healthcare is supporting the Decision Support Service (DSS) to host a public information event over two days called: Advance planning with the DSS – Start your Enduring Power of Attorney Journey.
This two-day event will run on Tuesday February 18 and Wednesday February 19 2025, at the Oriel House Hotel in Ballincollig, Cork. An Enduring Power of Attorney is a legal arrangement that gives authority to a person, to act on the donors behalf if they lose the capacity to make certain decisions in the future such as personal welfare matters, property or finances.
Public Information Evening
Date: Tuesday, February 18, 2025
Time: 6pm – 7pm
Speaker: Áine Flynn, the Director of Decision Support Service, will talk about the new laws under the Assisted Decision-making (Capacity) Act 2015 and explain the support options available for planning ahead.
This will include details about the steps needed to create an Enduring Power of Attorney (EPA) and how to get information on one-on-one support with the DSS.
One-on-One Enduring Power of Attorney (EPA) Helpdesk Sessions
Date: Wednesday, February 19, 2025
Time: 12pm – 6pm
These individual sessions are designed to help participants set up a DSS account and start an EPA application.

What to Bring for Helpdesk Sessions:
· Your verified MyGovID
· If you don't have a verified MyGovID account, the DSS can help verify your identity. Please bring, one current photo ID and two proofs of address (that are dated within the last six months)

· You may wish to bring your laptop to this event, as the DSS team will show you how to access the MyDSS portal on your own device.
