Library Exhibitions

The Cost of Breathing at Carrigaline Library The Cost of Breathing Exhibition will be on display for the month of August in Carrigaline Library, in collaboration with Cystic Fibrosis Ireland and Radharc. Photographer Trevor O’Donoghue presents a series of self-portraits demonstrating various experiences as someone with Cystic Fibrosis. This photographic exhibition confronts the emotional reality of poverty and Cystic Fibrosis, capturing the quiet moments where illness and hardship collide.

Emma Jacobs at Bandon Library A selection of paintings by artist Emma Jacobs, characterised by big, bold brushstrokes, vibrant colours and contemporary themes. Bandon Library opening hours and contact details can be found here.

Tessera Art at Cobh Library In celebration of Cork Craft Month, Cobh library will host a mixed media exhibition from artists Brendan Ryan, Diana Skalkos, Kathryn Smyth and Margaret Twomey for the month of August. All are welcome to come and view.

Faces of Dunmanway at Dunmanway Library To celebrate Ballabuidhe we have a collection of photographs/books of people of Dunmanway from times past and present. All photographs provided by Andy Collins.

Fermoy Through Its Buildings at Fermoy Library On display from 15th to 30th August This Heritage Week event presents a curated exhibition of historic sketches of Fermoy’s buildings alongside a collection of early and mid‑20th‑century street photographs. The display highlights the architectural development of the town and documents changes in its urban landscape over time. A corresponding talk by a local historian Christy Roche will provide an overview of Fermoy’s built heritage, drawing attention to key structures and streetscapes. The session will place the exhibited material in context, offering attendees a concise introduction to the town’s historical layout and architectural evolution. All are welcome.

Talamh agus Tonnta: The Landscape Speaks at Kinsale Library Compiled by Jerome Jordan and Cian Walsh, the exhibition will be on display for the month of August. Launch opening by Shannon Forde on Thursday 6th August from 5pm to 6.30pm, all are welcome to attend. The exhibition covers several cultural heritage disciplines. Most notably, place names, archaeology, history and shipwrecks. These are covered in a series of maps and cover the area between Oysterhaven and Dunworley.

Doneraile Court and Anne's Grove at Mallow Library On display from 5th to 19th August Discover Two of North Cork's Historic Treasures.  Drop into Mallow Library and spend a few minutes viewing this beautiful exhibition celebrating the history, heritage, and horticultural beauty of Doneraile Court and Anne’s Grove Gardens.  Explore the stories behind these remarkable estates and their lasting contribution to the cultural and natural heritage of Cork County. .

Faces and Places: Glanworth Through the Years at Mitchelstown Library A photographic exhibition from the Glanworth Community Archive where memories live. All are welcome to come and view during the month of August.
