The Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Declan Hurley, has this afternoon issued the following statement:“I note that the report prepared by the Cork Implementation Oversight Group – and submitted to the Minister for Housing, Planning & Local Government last week – has been approved by Cabinet earlier today. A copy of the report has been received by Cork County Council this afternoon. The Council will give the report, and its findings, due consideration at the earliest possible opportunity, and we will provide further comment in due course. What is certain is that this report is hugely significant for Cork. Its recommendations will have profound implications for the future of Cork – both City and County – and will shape how the region will develop and grow in the years ahead."
