Additional Information:  The Hougoumont, Australia’s last convict ship, arrived in Fremantle with 62 Irish Fenians aboard on January 10th, 1868. In early 2018, in Freemantle, Australia, a 10 day festival is taking place titled the Fenians, Freedom and Freemantle Festival, which is celebrating the influence of Irish Culture in Australia. In recognition of this Irish-Australian shared history, Cal McCarthy will give a talk in the County Hall. This event is part of the Creative Ireland County Cork Programme.
