Cork City, [25/10/2023] — The Pride in Our Community 2023 Competition Awards were held with great enthusiasm at the Kingsley Hotel last night, bringing together a diverse array of groups from Cork County and City. This grand event is organized by the Cork County Federation of Muintir na Tire in partnership with Cork County and City Councils.

Distinguished guests in attendance included County Mayor Cllr Frank O Flynn, Lord Mayor Cllr Kieran Mc Carthy, National President of Muintir na Tire Jackie Mealy, and representatives of Muintir na Tire Community groups from various corners of the city and county.

County Mayor Cllr Frank O Flynn commended all the great projects on view, and he praised all the groups involved for their fantastic work and commitment to their localities. He said Cork County Council are committed to supporting this competition as they had been since it started seventeen years ago.

This year, the judging panel from Cork County Council and Muintir na Tire was highly impressed by the exceptionally high standard of entries. Mr. Sean Holland, Chairman of the organizing committee, underscored that the competition serves the vital purpose of raising local awareness about the environment and promoting litter-free communities. He noted that this competition is open to all voluntary groups in County Cork and now, in Cork City as well.

National President of Muintir na Tire, Mr Jackie Mealy, eloquently emphasized the vital connection between our surroundings and our quality of life. He praised the beauty of Cork City and County, the outstanding projects that contribute to it, drawing visitors from near and far. Mr. Mealy expressed gratitude to both Councils for their unwavering support in realizing these projects, and he praised the work of Cork County Federation Muintirn a Tire as an example to other counties to follow.

Boherbue and District Community Development Association’s recognition as the "Pride of County Cork " underscores the outstanding efforts and dedication of this community group in making their community and Cork County a better place for all. The entire community can be proud of their achievement.
