Cork County Council has announced funding for 11 community groups who will host events and initiatives through the Irish language in Cork County.

Successful applicants were approved for events across South, West and East Cork for a wide range of events such as Street Parties, Local Cultural Events, Talks, Research projects into the Irish language and local dialect, and Film Festivals aimed at both adults and young people. All these projects are through the Irish language and will very much benefit both the local communities and Irish language in the county.

The new Grant for Events and Projects through Irish, offered through the Council’s Irish Office, covers events or projects through the medium of Irish, with a maximum of €1,500 available for any one event.

Cork County Council considers the promotion and support of Irish language projects within the community to be of the utmost importance and intend on running this grant again in 2024 and hope for its success and expansion. It is hoped to launch the grant earlier in 2024 so as to allow opportunity for groups who wish to host events earlier in the year for Seachtain na Gaeilge and the early summer months.
