BIM FLAG Funding Scheme





The FLAG (Fisheries Local Action Group) Scheme is now open for applications. This scheme supports sustainable development in coastal communities and offers funding for a wide range of projects within 10 km of the coast.

Eligible Project Categories

  • Training for individuals (pre-approval required)
  • Small Scale Coastal Fishing (SSCF) projects
  • Blue Economy initiatives in seafood, niche coastal tourism, marine leisure, and marine industry
  • Community development projects (public good or income-generating)
  • Charity-led projects (registered with Charities Regulator)
  • Fisheries co-operatives or collectives

Funding Thresholds

  • Individuals (Training): 50% grant aid, up to €5,000
  • Blue Economy Enterprises: 50% grant aid, up to €50,000
  • SSCF Vessel Owners: 80% grant aid, up to €50,000
  • Community Groups/Charities: 50–80% grant aid, up to €50,000
