The FLAG (Fisheries Local Action Group) Scheme is now open for applications. This scheme supports sustainable development in coastal communities and offers funding for a wide range of projects within 10 km of the coast.
Eligible Project Categories
- Training for individuals (pre-approval required)
- Small Scale Coastal Fishing (SSCF) projects
- Blue Economy initiatives in seafood, niche coastal tourism, marine leisure, and marine industry
- Community development projects (public good or income-generating)
- Charity-led projects (registered with Charities Regulator)
- Fisheries co-operatives or collectives
Funding Thresholds
- Individuals (Training): 50% grant aid, up to €5,000
- Blue Economy Enterprises: 50% grant aid, up to €50,000
- SSCF Vessel Owners: 80% grant aid, up to €50,000
- Community Groups/Charities: 50–80% grant aid, up to €50,000
