Seamus Forde has been involved in Community Life since he was a young man. A retired farmer now, he was a former member and chairman of Carrig na Bfhear Community Council. He has served on the Imokilly region branch Muintir na Tire. He is currently President of Cork County Federation of Muintir na Tire. He has served on the board of this organisation for over 37 years and was chairperson for almost twenty years.
During his time as Chairperson of Muintir he has led Cork
County Federation through good times and bad. He was ahead of his time in advocating
and campaigning that local community councils /groups are a powerful resource
not only within their own areas but benefit the County Council and county in
many ways. He also led new programmes including Pride in Our Community. Cork
Schools Garden project and Cork Cultural Companions during his tenure.
The Board of Cork County Federation would like to congratulate Seamus on his very well deserved award.
