Framework Policy for Local and Community Development in Ireland


The Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government, Mr. Alan Kelly T.D., is preparing the Government’s Framework Policy for Local and Community Development in Ireland.  The policy will reflect the shared commitment of national and local government to engage with communities and work with partners in the planning and delivery of local and community development programmes.
The policy will provide a framework for promoting, supporting and investing in community development actions and approaches that will bring communities together, empower them to identify their own needs and priorities and provide them with the skills and knowledge to influence, shape and participate in decision making processes and bring about change for the benefit of people within those communities.
Members of the public, local communities and all interested persons are now invited to make written submissions on the draft framework policy.  Submissions received will be considered and will assist in completion of the policy.
