Suicide Prevention and Understanding Self-harm
safeTALK – Suicide Alertness for Everyone will be facilitated by the HSE and the Skibbereen Community & Family Resource Centre and the Childrens and the Health & Wellbeing Officer for Clonakilty GAA Club. safeTALK is for All Community Members over the age of 18 years and for People Working in the Caring Professions i.e. community workers, youth workers, addiction services, mental health professionals etc. safeTALK helps us to become more alert to the signs of suicide in those around us and introduces us to ways in which we can help.
A 1 day Understanding Self-Harm Training Workshops will be facilitated by the HSE and its community partner Skibbereen Community & Family Resource Centre in April. The aim of the programme is to: Develop participants’ knowledge and understanding of self-harm and the reasons underlying self-harm behaviour along with the needs of people who self-harm. The training is suitable for people who work with young people such as youth workers, teachers, residential care staff, Gardaí, and people in caring professions and parents, concerned members of the public, people who work in alcohol and addiction services, those who work with homeless people and people who work with those recovering from mental illness.
