I hope this email finds you in good spirits and that things are flowing well for you. I'm sending you my latest list of funding, fellowship and other opportunities, a few updates, a nice little story about my mother meeting a Chinese Qi Gong master, and info on meditation, song-writing, and public-speaking workshops (some discounted places available). Hopefully, you'll spot something here that might benefit you or someone you know.
If you prefer not to receive these occasional email updates, no probs - just click here or let me know.
Some of my latest happenings:
- Podcasts: My Love and Courage podcast continues to reach thousands of listeners around the world. The latest interview is with musician, author and crowdfunding sensation Amanda Palmer, the Dresden Dolls singer and force behind the excellent book and TED talk 'The Art of Asking'. There’s also a fascinating new episode with Sr Teresa Forcades, who has been called 'Europe's most radical nun'. She's a Catalonian independence leader, medical doctor, pro-choice activist, author and scholar. Listen to the Love and Courage podcast for free on iTunes, Spotify, Soundcloud, YouTube or other podcast apps. More info.
- Your patronage: It's not always easy asking for help but as Amanda Palmer discusses in 'the art of asking', self-employed artists, activists and innovators often rely on the support of their communities in order to do what they do. I'm therefore looking for your support to help make change through my podcast, campaigning, writing, media, mentoring and community work. This support helps me reach and serve others. You can become one of my monthly or once-off patrons by chipping in online (incl PayPal and anonymous options), or by sending me an email for more info. No amount is too small and other types of support are always appreciated, too. A special thanks to all who have already supported. More info.
- Public-speaking coaching, and workshops: I've been busy recently doing lots of talks in Ireland and internationally on topics such as community leadership, wellbeing, CSR and social innovation. I have also been offering public-speaking coaching to individuals and groups, and have just launched a 1-day public speaking workshop in Dublin. I hope to be able to offer the same in other cities in Ireland and abroad. Available as a CPD course. Let me know if you’re interested in attending or organising a workshop in your town/city/organisation. More info.
- Susie Q's music and meditation classes: I've had the honour of working alongside my wife Susan (Susie Q) to launch her excellent debut single and music video, highlighting the global refugee crisis. The song has had frequent airplay on national radio, and her music has been covered in Hotpress, the Irish Times, the Sunday Independent and elsewhere. You can find 'Home' by Susie Q on Spotify and iTunes, and the powerful music video is out now on YouTube. Susan has also finished up with A Lust For Life and has become a certified meditation teacher, offering classes, one-to-one coaching, talks and workshops. She has some classes coming up in Dublin and can be booked for others. More info.
- Qi Gong workshop: Last year my mother was on her way to visit my brother in China, when what was supposed to be a 2-hour stop-over in Switzerland turned into a 24-hour delay due to an error with her ticket. In one of those strange twists of fate, on the onward flight to China she ended up sitting beside a renowned Qi Gong master. They became fast friends, and now my mother is hosting his 3-day workshop in Galway in July. Amazing how life surprises. More info.
- Songwriting workshop: I'm hosting a songwriting workshop in Dublin on August 20th with musician and activist Luke Concannon, the man behind Nizlopi's no.1 UK hit 'The JCB Song', and otherwise known as Ed Sheeran's hero and mentor. More info.
Wishing you the very best with all that you do,
