The New Year sees the Fermoy Steppers Walking Group back in action in our community. This group was formed last year with support from the Fermoy Community Health Project for RTE's Operation Transformation. This year the group are back once again and are encouraging people of all ages and abilities to get active with them and be part of meeting the challenge laid for Operation Transformation 2016, that being for the nation to shed a million pounds from its waistline.
The first initiative which the Fermoy Steppers have organised is a Family Fun 5km Walk this coming Saturday 9th January, starting at 2pm sharp! Walkers of all ages and abilities are invited to assemble at St. Colman's College playing field 20 minutes prior to start time for a gentle warm-up. The Fermoy Steppers will also be holding a bucket collection on the day, any and all donations welcome as all monies raised will go directly towards the Fermoy COPE Foundation Bus Fund. I would be very grateful if your group/organisation is using group texting that you would let all your members know about the Family Fun Walk on Saturday 9th January, alternatively please print out the flyer and place it on notice board. (Flyer attached in word & jpeg format)
For 2016 the Fermoy Steppers have joined forces with other walking groups in the community and over the course of Operation Transformation four walks a week will take place (flyer attached in word & jpeg format). I would be very grateful if you would print these off and place on your workplace notice board or email to staff, family & friends.
As all the walking groups are currently being supported by Jacinta McCormack, Community Health Worker; details of all the walks can be found under events on www.fermoyresourcecentre.com.
If you would like further information or clarification on any of the above, please contact Jacinta on 085 8742320 or follow the Fermoy Steppers on Facebook.
