Fermoy Friendship Week

As part of Fermoy Friendship Week 2024 we are running our first Intergenerational Story Exchange Workshop on Tuesday 12th November, from 10am to 1pm
in the Fermoy Youth Centre.

We are looking for 8 older people & 8 young people (secondary school age) to participate in this intergenerational story exchange workshop.  The workshop will be facilitated by Narrative 4, who will get participants ready to share stories, through circle-work participants will develop deep listening skills, public speaking / storytelling skills and social and emotional learning skills.

During this half day workshop, participants are paired and encouraged to share stories from their lives with each other. The key aspect of the exchange is that each person retells their partner's story in the first person, as if it were their own.

This immersive storytelling technique allows participants to step into someone else’s shoes, promoting deep emotional insight and bridging divides across differences in background, perspective, or experience. The Story Exchange creates a powerful space for mutual understanding and helps build stronger, more empathetic communities.

If you would like to take part; please contact Jacinta MCCormack, HSE Community Health Worker on 0858742320on or before 25th October 2024.

Many thanks
Jacinta
