Despite the work done to put it at the top of the agenda, and the impact it has on everybody, every day, creating real momentum and policy work on mental health that reflects progressive values has been lacking in the recent EU budget and Commission mandate. Mental health is emerging as one of the defining public policy issues of our time. Across Europe, rising rates of anxiety, depression, and behavioural addictions, or the risk of suicide — particularly among young people — reveal the urgent need for systemic solutions. Tackling mental health challenges requires a gender-responsive and intersectional approach that cuts across health, social, and employment policies. This event will gather leading stakeholders from policy, practitioners, academia and civil society, including: - Marc Angel, Member of the European Parliament, Socialists and Democrats Group in the European Parliament, Luxembourg
- Jana Michailidu, Academic Staff Member, IRAP - Institute for Rational Addiction Policies Digital
- Sara Bojarczuk, Assistant Professor, University of Warsaw
- Aida Bikic, Screen time researcher, Syddansk Universitet - University of Southern Denmark Digital
- Tomas Petricek, Senior Non-resident Fellow, Institute of International Relations, Prague and Director, Progressive Analytical Centre
- László Andor, Secretary General, Foundation for European Progressive Studies
- François Balate, Policy Analyst on Social, Foundation for European Progressive Studies
Join us on 10 October 2025 for the event, “Healthy minds, stronger Europe“, in person at FEPS headquarters and online here.
