Ballyphehane
Tidy Towns were Winners
at the Annual Muintir na Tire Pride in our Community Awards held in the
Kingsley Hotel last night. Their project involved Since 2024, significant effort has been applied to the Pearse Square
Rejuvenation Project. This initiative aims to transform Pearse Square into a
vibrant, community-friendly space, reversing its decline into a hub for
anti-social behaviour. PROJECT HIGHLIGHT Recent Enhancements and New Additions:
Festoon Lighting: We added festoon LED lighting to enhance the ambiance of the
square, making it more inviting and visually appealing. This also supports the
“Leave A Light On” campaign started by Cork City Council which aims to create a
safer and more vibrant nighttime environment in the city centre and business
areas. This project was funded through Cork City Councils Community Enhancement
Fund and local fundraising. Barrier Installation: We installed a barrier to
prohibit vehicle access, restoring it to the former pedestrian square it was.
and they were highly praised by the judges for their efforts. The Lord Mayor
Of Cork Cllr. Fergal Dennehy congratulated them and praised them for
their efforts on behalf of their community.

community and voluntary groups from Cork city to enter the competition which
recognizes and rewards community groups who develop new or existing local
amenities and projects which are of long-term benefit to the local community.

Pride in Our Community is organised
by Cork County Federation Muintir na Tire and is supported by Cork City Council
and Cork County Council. Each year we acknowledge,
and reward groups engaged in various community initiatives, such as:

and Trails.
